Author Visits
- Are you a teacher or Librarian? Would you like to schedule an author visit? Please send us an e-mail, and we will be happy to set one up! Besides being a fun break from the classroom routine, an author or illustrator visit introduces students to the processes of writing, developing characters, and expressing one’s creativity. It gets readers excited about books, and it provides an opportunity to encourage young writers. No two schools are the same. Therefore, each schedule and visit will be carefully crafted and planned to best visit fit your needs. Skype calls are available too. For pricing, questions, or to arrange a visit, please fill out the form.
Program Basics
- A visit can range between 30 - 60 minutes, depending on the needs of the class, or school assembly. An interactive visit of reading will captivate children. Afterward, we talk about the students’ favorite part and the things they learned. After which, I open it up to a question and answer and discuss the basics of writing and illustrating. Each visit concludes with a fun activity for the students that relate to the book shared.
Author Workshops
- This visit usually accompanies an already scheduled after school event such as a family night. Author workshop station(s) are set up with all of the necessary supplies for students to write and illustrate their own books. Each child is worked with personally on crafting their own unique story. Parent participation is encouraged and recommended. Children are encouraged to take their books home with them.
STEAM Workshops
- Similar to the author workshop, a STEAM workshop has additional stations where families can work together on fun educational projects. For example, learn about engineering and design through the construction of derby cars. Explore the world of technology by learning how to construct an electrical circuit. Parent participation is encouraged and recommended. Families are allowed to take projects home with them to continue the fun learning and bonding experience.
Virtual Workshops
- Not all districts and schools have the budget to afford an author visit. Children should be afforded this experience regardless of a school’s operating budget. A virtual visit is a perfect opportunity. Book sales are offered in the same manner.
